T.K. Lawless

It's been a while since I posted, simply because I've been riding my bike so much I haven't had time - oh, and I got a new computer and I've been playing Doom 3 like a maniac and my brother got a 360 so that's been taking up my time as well. Anyways, my brother, my friend Matthew, and I had time to go out to Dr. T.K. Lawless park today to do a little mountain biking - it's just a ten mile loop, but it's a lot of fun. I took some pictures along the way.

Getting ready to ride:

Actually, I only took a couple of pictures before we started riding the trail. At about the four-mile mark we realized Rob (my brother) had dropped one of Matthew's water bottles along the way. We decided to ride through the rest of the trail, but when we got to the end we would go back to the half way mark (it's really easy to get to since the trail doubles back so much) and ride backwards looking for it. That's when I took the following pictures...

Actually, I took this picture before we left for the second time. I figured I should get one shot of the photographer...

This one is a picture of some guy we met coming the other way - I think he was the only other one on the trails because there weren't really any other cars and we didn't see anybody else.

This is a picture of Matthew riding away into the forest.

This is my gloved hand, resting on the handlebar while we wait for Rob to get done talking on his cell phone - don't EVER have your cell phone on while you're on the trails. They will always call you while you're climbing, always.

Here is Rob, finishing the climb after he got done talking on the cell phone.

After we had ridden another three or four miles, back-tracking on the trail, we decided that the search for the water-bottle was a lost cause and since we could see the road from where we were, we decided to take it the rest of the way back.

I decided to take these pictures while we were riding (against my better judgement). Fortunately, they turned out pretty well and I didn't break the camera.

I thought this would be a cool picture, coming around the curve...

In this one, Rob and Matthew are riding like maniacs with no hands, crazy white people... wait a second.

Altogether, it was a very fun ride and I hope I can do it again soon. I'm hoping to go up to Yankee Springs pretty soon - we've got a Michigan State Park sticker and we've only used it once.

The New Ride

I finally picked up the bike today. It's going to be sweet, I can't wait to take it on some serious trails - I just rode it out in some orchards by my house - it was pretty fun. Here are some pics. They're not very good quality because the lighting was bad.

Just some shots of the bike.

Looking pretty sweet.

Some random pics of me messing around on my driveway/porch - my brother was the photographer, so blame him if you don't like them.

Everything is set up perfectly because it just came from the bikeshop - we'll see how long that lasts, I'll have to learn my maintenance stuff.

The one below is pretty funny - if you look closely, you can see that my face looks kind of funny, funnier than usual that is. It's because I was making sweet whooshing sound effects while my brother was taking pictures.

About to ride down the stairs - oh yeah, that's hardcore.

And, finally another picture of me on the driveway.

That's about it for the pictures. Finally, I'll be able to go up to Fort Custer like I've been wanting to. It should be pretty sweet. The riding I've done so far was just a couple of miles through some sandy tractor roads and some singletrack that wasn't really meant for bikes in some woods near my house. Can't wait to see what this bike is really made of - oh wait, I think it's aluminum, yeah, it is, I remember now.

More about my Bike

I can't believe it, my bike still hasn't come yet. I called the bike shop last week and they said that UPS lost it in Denver. I hope I get it soon because I wanted to go out to Fort Custer (just like the last two weekends). I really want to go this weekend, though, because I'm thinking about going to a race there on the 7th of May - hopefully that works out. You can check out the info on the race here.

It looks like it might be kind of fun. They're giving out 4 Gary Fisher Mountain bikes Cake 2 Mountain Bikes it's just a raffle so maybe I can win one.

Oh yeah, and finals are next week so if anyone reads this and feels the need to pray for me, please do.

Haro Thread 8

Ordered my Haro Thread 8 last Friday - here is the info on it: Haro Thread 8.
It should be here around this Thursday - I'm hoping to take it out to Fort Custer (Southwest Michigan - where I live) on Saturday, but my brother wants to ride four-wheelers with my friends, so we'll see how that goes.
